Clear aligners or Invisalign are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. Not only are the aligners invisible, but they are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment.
Of course, brushing and flossing are less of a hassle since they are removable. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal which can cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
There are no restrictions on sugars, carbohydrates, and sticky foods that you would typically have for metal braces. Patients like that hardly notice these invisible braces when looking in the mirror or in photographs.
Not only is Invisalign quite comfortable, but it is also very undetectable, and today, we can correct many dental conditions such as overbite and underbite.
TREATMENTS
Patients are required to visit their orthodontist every ten weeks for a check-up and adjustments. The braces will be changed at regular intervals. Every set of invisible braces used will be custom designed for the patient and will be made to the exact specifications as determined by the orthodontist.
The duration of the treatment will depend on the degree of correction required and will last for about one to two years.
Typically, 3-D computer technology will be used to take an image of your teeth. From detailed studies of your jaw structure, the orthodontist will then determine the amount of correction required.
Using these images, the patient will be provided with sets of invisible braces that are to be worn for about one week each. These clear braces will slowly shift your teeth into their corrected position. The 3-D computer technology allows the patient to see the treatment before so that there is a clear understanding of how their teeth will look when the treatment is finished.
